Optometrist
Dr. Clinton McLean is a board-certified optometrist dedicated to providing personalized, family-focused eye care for patients in Shelton and the surrounding communities. With more than 40 years of experience in optometry and more than 35 years serving the local area, he has built a reputation for attentive care and thoughtful treatment recommendations.
Dr. McLean graduated from Fairfield University in 1975 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He then attended the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA, where he earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1979. He is board certified by the American Board of Optometry.
Throughout his career, Dr. McLean has continued to advance his clinical knowledge to provide patients with current, comprehensive care. He has completed advanced coursework in surgical procedures and laser therapy for a range of eye conditions. His clinical interests include the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, dry eye disease, and macular degeneration.
Dr. McLean enjoys seeing patients of all ages and takes time to explain eye health findings, answer questions, and recommend care that fits each patient’s needs. Whether patients visit for routine vision care, dry eye treatment, or eye disease management, he strives to make their experience comfortable, informative, and personalized.
His dedication to the profession was recognized in 2022, when the Connecticut Association of Optometrists named him Optometrist of the Year. Dr. McLean is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Connecticut Association of Optometrists. He is also the owner of Waterbury Eye Associates.
When he is not caring for patients, Dr. McLean lives in Seymour, CT, with his wife and two daughters.
