LASIK, Shelton, CT

LASIK and Refractive Eye Surgery Consultation & Co-Management. For those who do not want to depend on contact lenses or eyeglasses their entire lives, LASIK eye surgery or another type of laser vision correction may be a good alternative.

It is not for everyone, however. At Vision Center LTD, our doctors can help you determine if refractive eye surgery is the right choice for you and provide both pre- and post-operative eye surgery care in Shelton, Connecticut.

Understanding Refractive Eye Surgeries

Refractive eye surgeries are used to reduce or eliminate the need for contact lenses or eyeglasses. They can include a variety of different procedures, but LASIK surgery is the most widely known.

A LASIK procedure is a minimally invasive outpatient surgery. It involves the use of a computer-controlled laser and a small blade to reshape the cornea. LASIK eye surgery is a quick procedure typically involving minimal discomfort with only minor side effects. This form of laser eye surgery is often used to correct farsightedness, nearsightedness, and astigmatism.

Other laser eye correction and refractory surgeries include photorefractive keratectomy (PRK), automated lamellar keratoplasty (ALK), laser thermal keratoplasty (LTK), and more. Our doctors at Vision Center LTD can help you determine which procedure may be best for your eye health needs with a LASIK and refractive eye surgery consultation.

Is Laser Eye Correction Right for You?

The first step to determining if LASIK or another vision correction procedure is right for you is a comprehensive eye exam at our office. When you make your appointment, mention your interest in laser eye surgery so that we can conduct a LASIK consultation at your exam.

During this exam, one of our doctors will assess your vision and overall eye health. If you are interested in LASIK, they will also use this exam to determine if you are a good candidate for vision correction surgery. To determine your candidacy, your doctor will evaluate your current prescription, the presence of any eye diseases, and the shape and thickness of your cornea. If you have dry eye syndrome, your doctor can guide you through dry eye treatment before laser eye correction, as this could help you avoid complications from surgery.

If you are found to be a good candidate for LASIK surgery, we will refer you to an experienced and reputable local ophthalmologist. We will also attend to your pre-op eye surgery care, offering you instructions on what to do before your surgery and directions on how to improve your recovery.

Post-Operative LASIK Surgery Care

As is the case after every surgery, your body will need time to heal. We offer post-operative care for LASIK and refractive eye surgery at our Shelton eye care center to help monitor your recovery and support you through any post-op problems that may arise.

At your post-operative appointments, we will observe any side effects and offer instructions on what to do and what to avoid doing to ensure a safe and thorough recovery.

Give our office a call if you are interested in LASIK eye surgery. Our doctors are ready to help you determine if LASIK is the right choice for your needs.
