Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT) for Dry Eye, Shelton & Waterbury, CT
Whether it’s from staring at screens for too long, hormonal changes, or simply getting older, dry eye can have a significant impact on your daily life. Our eye doctors offer a range of dry eye treatment options in Shelton and Waterbury, including low level light therapy (LLLT).
What is low level light therapy (LLLT)?
Our optometrists use the Equinox low level light therapy (LLLT) system from Marco to help our patients get relief from dryness, irritation, and other dry eye symptoms. LLLT is a non-invasive treatment that uses gentle light and heat to stimulate tear production and improve the health of the cells lining the inside of your eyelids. Unlike traditional remedies that only provide temporary relief, LLLT targets the root cause of dry eye, promoting natural healing and long-term comfort.
What can I expect during low level light therapy (LLLT)?
During the LLLT treatment, we’ll place an LED mask on your face. This mask uses specially designed lights to gently warm up the eyelid area, softening and breaking up clogged oils in your tear glands. Patients usually notice a warm feeling during the treatment, but there is no pain or discomfort. Each treatment session lasts about 15 minutes, and you can resume your normal routine immediately after the treatment.
Low level light therapy (LLLT) is a safe and effective way to treat dry eye without any negative side effects. Many patients say they notice improvement within just a few weeks of treatment and experience lasting relief from their symptoms. If you’re dealing with dry eye and looking for a solution, contact our office to book an exam and find out if LLLT is right for you.
