Dr. Bijal Desai

Optometrist

Dr. Bijal Desai is a compassionate primary eye care provider who offers comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings, and treatment for a wide range of eye health concerns. Since joining Vision Center LTD in 2017, she has been committed to helping patients of all ages in Shelton and the surrounding communities see clearly and maintain healthy eyes. 

Dr. Desai earned her bachelor’s degree in Molecular & Cell Biology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2013. During her optometric training, she completed internships focused on ocular disease, pediatrics, and low vision, building a strong foundation for caring for patients with diverse vision and eye health needs.

Before joining Vision Center LTD, Dr. Desai practiced full-scope optometry in Rockford, IL, and San Diego, CA. She uses the practice’s advanced technology to diagnose and manage conditions including dry eye disease, eye infections and injuries, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

Dr. Desai values making every visit clear, comfortable, and personalized. She takes time to explain findings, discuss treatment options, and answer patients’ questions so they can feel informed and confident about their eye care. From routine eye exams to contact lens fittings and ongoing eye disease management, she tailors her care to each patient’s individual needs. 

She is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Connecticut Association of Optometrists. 

When she is not seeing patients, Dr. Desai enjoys traveling, baking and trying new recipes, and spending time with her family. She lives in Shelton with her husband and daughter.
